This is an exercise in risk management. I feel the bigger risk is to leave him in place. Unfortunately, i don’t see the kind of dispassionate calculation necessary for us to avoid descending into a fascist hellscape.

Best bet for the Dems right now is to make every Biden event, a Biden/Harris event. Join them at the hip, and make them the package. Keep the advantages of the incumbent, with the backup of a healthy VP to assure the public.

That’s going to accomplish one thing only: making Kamala even more toxic to voters than she’s already made herself.

Her being mostly behind the scenes where she doesn’t get much Biden stink on her is the kindest thing they did to her since handing her the job.

Their opponent is a felon, rapist, accused pedophile, with a record of taking away women’s rights.

        Kamala is sometimes rude.

You see how that doesn’t really compare? Especially given she doesn’t have to sell a policy agenda of her own, she just has to lay down how she’s going to keep Biden’s winning agenda on track.

… they simply will not be allowed to turn the page & start fresh, because everyone’s incentives remain the same. If they did that, elites, including media elites, would have no choice but to openly & frankly grapple with Trump & what he represents & they *don’t want to*. **

    Spot on.

I feel like this was written by someone who didn’t watch the debate. No one’s expecting a change in ticket to go well - the argument is over whether or not it’s necessary. This isn’t a “skeletons in the closet” sort of situation - there’s no amount of damage control that can fix this if it’s real. The media always frenzies when they smell blood in the water, and campaigns respond by stopping the bleeding or giving them something bigger to go after. Trump is wisely keeping quiet, and Biden so far seems unable to make this go away.

I’m just going to save this to copy paste everytime “but the Dems need to swap horses just before the election becaue Biden no speak good” comes up. I mean for all the trouble he is enabling in Gaza, at this point it would only benefit the guy who is actively campaigning on sending the Amarican military into Gaza to finish the job once and for all.

Even on that issue pushing and campaigning for local and state representatives that actively care about the situation is going to have a lot larger impact on the party than pushing pro palestine voters to stay home.
