LGT a list of old Bandai toys - what were your favorite scifi-related toys? I had Star Wars guys and Transformers.
I forgot - I had some MASK toys, too.
“Star Bird” — A space ship that made noises when you changed its pitch. It could be put together into a couple of different configurations. It wasn’t tied to any tv show, movie, or comic book.
Micronauts — a time traveling group of futuristic translucent android action figures that had cool vehicles and accessories you could reconfigure like Lego. Some of these floated on water, others had shootable rubber-tipped missiles, and some could be put together to make giant robots. The best set to me was the one I couldn’t afford, but that a friend had. A Logan’s Run style tube train set propelled using a vacuum pump. There later was a comic book series that tried to explain their backstory.
ROM — a silver robot doll with red led eyes that made different noises depending on which of his accessories you attached. Also later had a comic book series that tried to explain it all.
Exo-Squad: Cool powered armor suits that had launchers and cool gadgets
MASK - Transforming vehicles and characters with special helmet tech
And of course original, Star Wars, and Transformers, I can distinctly remember playing outside in the snow with my Hoth playset in the middle of a Minnesota winter.
Lego sets! I had some that were ice planet themed, and I remember having a bunch of spaceships that had transparent green windows, visors, etc. that I thought were so cool.
I loved the space crater lego plate where you could build the space station and imagine you were on the moon
I had a few Star Wars toys but I was late to the party. I remember getting an X-Wing at Christmas but I lost the battle damage stickers the same day. I swear they got bunched up with the wrapping paper and thrown away.
The only transformer I had was a little green and yellow UFO.
Also, I remember going to a toy shop with very little money and coming away with a Paul Atreides action figure from David Lynch’s Dune. Must have been reduced, I can’t imagine they sold very well.
