Sources in Belarus said that some Wagner base camps were being dismantled the evening of Aug. 23, and that members of the private military group were forming convoys to leave the country.

“The convoys are likely heading towards the border with Russia,” the Center said.

According to the Center’s sources in Belarus, the Belarusian government did not authorize the mercenary group’s withdrawal. Belarusian special services are reportedly trying to intercept the convoys at the border.

I’ve been wondering whether Wagnerites would try avenging the deaths somehow. Interesting to see where this’ll go

If they aren’t getting paid, that would probably kill off any hopes of revenge fairly quick. Wagner’s attempted coup only got as far as it did because of Prigozhin being respected by the troops. Now that Prigozhin and the actual Wagner leader are out of the picture, there probably isn’t a replacement that can fill that void fast enough.

It’s probably more likely that all of the stray mercs will end up joining other PMCs.

I would have expected they’d be a bit antsy about going back to Russia, knowing what generally happens to people who cross Putin
