Basically you just need to avoid it. https://www.fda.gov/food/environmental-contaminants-food/fdaepa-2004-advice-what-you-need-know-about-mercury-fish-and-shellfish says you can: eat up to 6 ounces (one average meal) per week of fish you catch from local waters, but don’t consume any other fish during that week. It’s got a ton of good advice - which types of fish are okay, which are less so, deeper answers to timing and many other questions too.
