I used to be a pretty big fan of Bill Maher.
I say he is washed up because he is VERY vocal about the younger generation not getting comedy and his being “canceled”
The more I heard his whining on the topic the more I realized that he thinks he is a lot more funny than he is.
If the audience isn’t laughing maybe its best to ask if your joke was funny before blaming the audience

Yeah, it’s not a good look. But he was not only targeting that religion. The guy made an entire documentary dedicated to shitting on all religions. It’s worth noting that he probably hasn’t said those kinds of things recently. That article is from 7 years ago. I’m not saying he’s got all defensible views but I don’t know if it was really fair to characterize him as an islamophobe. Again, he was also shitting on Christianity constantly.
Religious is from 08 and DID attack every religion.
I was watching from 12-17 and islamaphobia was on full display in most episodes. He would defend himself as you would expect but he didn’t hit all religions like he did Islam during that time.
