I’m sorry you were molested but you cannot expect strangers to refrain from playing with each other to respect triggers they don’t even know exist. I know it sucks, I know it can even feel like physical pain. But they are not psychic and while we did not ask for trauma, it is our responsibility at the end of the day, not theirs. They’re just having fun and they should be able to do that.

      but you cannot expect strangers

Strangers tend to be humans. I expect humans to be machines for making the world worse. I don’t expect humans to respect my boundaries, quite often, because a large number of humans gain profit from oppressing each other.

Kindness might feel like or look like a choice, but it truly comes from understanding. Lord Buddha came across some children fishing, and asked them how they would react to a hook piercing their cheek, for example.

The concept of ‘me’ as exclusive from other living beings is what allows for harmful distinctions to be made, where ‘me’ can exploit others for profit. In reality, ‘me’ is just one of many living beings, and we are all born, feel pain, and die.
