Yes, but what about [single political issue here that Trump is as bad or worse on]?
Clearly this means we should vote for [candidate least likely to win but most likely to split the vote of the non-fascist party]!
“As an upper-middle-class white male, I just don’t like politics, so I don’t vote.”
Fuck you, you selfish little pricks.
I vote now.
I don’t think I was selfish before … Just ignorant and/or sheltered.
I don’t think I disagree with your point, but the messaging is unlikely to convert many non voters.
tbf, if they’re on a politics com and bragging about not voting, chances are that they’re pretty far from where you were at if you were just ignorant and/or sheltered.
Well… You’re not wrong.
I’m just yelling at the choir on Lemmy, I believe. With my actual friends, especially married ones with daughters who say this stuff, I approach it differently. “You always tell me you disdain deadbeat dads, but not voting is another form of failing your daughter. You should be a champion for her rights man, not sitting on the sidelines trying to play nice with ‘both sides.’”
I can’t believe how apolitical I was before our daughter was born. I mean I’m not even in the US or a man but Jesus fucking Christ having kids makes you so invested into everything that you cannot not be political. It’s not even a real choice unless you are, as you phrase it, a deadbeat parent.
“You see, if fascism wins, then socialism will magically win next. It’s a law of nature, like a pendulum. It Is Known.”
It seems obvious, but half the country thinks Harris controls weather machines and hits Florida with hurricanes for some reason. They show up and vote, because they believe this nonsense deeply.
Please acknowledge the threat and act accordingly. If you are in a swing state, please vote for the rest of us. Your vote matters so very much.
It’s not half. It’s a minority in this country. It SEEMS like half cause the electoral college is a moronic system.
It’s actually pretty close to half. According to Pew polls of people in the US, (not just voters or likely voters), about 40% identify as right of center. About 35% identify as left of center. The other 25% identify as moderates or independents.
there was an interview where a woman said something to the effect of “they’re controlling the weather and letting the hurricane hit red districts because they can’t rig the election otherwise”. like yeah hacking motherfucking weather is somehow easier than hacking ballots.
That was a Good Liars interview. They get spectacularly crazy quotes from people at Trump rallies, which I’m sure is not difficult.
That was also a member of the House of Representatives saying that, because we live in an insane world.

Then there are tens of millions of people who cannot complain about what happens next. Death of democracy in the USA ? “Well I didn’t vote for them” Wife/mother/sister/cousin/friend died due to pregnancy related complications? “well I didn’t vote for them” Etc.etc.
There is never a party you 100% agree with. If there is then you are probably guilty of blindly following. Your job as a voter is to express your opinion whether by writing to your representative, protesting or simply voting. Then hold them to account when they don’t follow through or do something you don’t like.
Don’t let them tell you what you want. Tell them what you want.
And yet, here we are. How is this even a choice?
Because conspiratorial thinking has flourished, creating a whole set of fantasy worlds to believe in where anything can happen as long as it proves you were right all along when you were an asshole.
Because nothing is real, everything is a game, and us poors are just pieces.
Her unwaivering commitment to genocide and corporate donors, flip flopping on major issues and her gratification of Dick Cheney
Everything you said is Donald trump. And he’s a convicted rapist, insurrectionist, conman, serial liar and everything else in the image. Again, how is this even a choice? Or do you consider chocolate and shit equivalent?
Okay. No where did I ever say I was voting Trump. It’s just feeble minds can’t imagine any other scenario.
Isn’t revising your positions when you get more information or change your morals a good thing? I hate the villainization of changing your views. It’s such a childish understanding of the world where that’s a bad thing. It’s probably part of why our society is so divided now. We’ve used “flip-flopping” as an insult, so anyone who ever admits they did something wrong or changed their opinion must be a bad person. In reality the opposite is true. Admitting fault and growing as a person is a virtue that should be rewarded.
When the subject matter you’re flipping on is Medicare for all, fracking, And the death penalty. Um. Nah.
Both your posts just sound like someone whining because they can’t have it their way; in this case, apparently your complete inability to direct the conversation is the problem. Which would imply you’re whining at yourself…and you really are. It’s rather nauseating to be honest…
It’s always projection with these people. That and a willingness to sacrifice everything around them to fulfill their entitlement.
If Harris started saying “from the river to the sea” at her rallies, she’d drop 10 points overnight. If she was still for a ban on fraking, she’d lose Pennsylvania by 10 points. Cheney is really a waste of energy but a non- factor.
Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
https://amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/sep/30/election-michigan-harris
If she loses she’ll just blame everyone but herself like Democrats always do. Obama is already trying to blame black men saying they are chauvinistic.
And she’d drop 5 more points in Michigan if she started the “from river to the sea” shit from her base that she would lose, even with 100% of the state’s Muslims supporting her.
Why is the only other logical choice in your mind that Kamala must either support genocide or spread antisemtic statements? How in the world do you see that as the only two logical options?
I don’t. I want us to cease funding offensive weapons, while still helping to fund the Iron Dome and to defend Isreal if they are attacked. That’d lose her 20 points in the polls because being nuanced would just piss off both sides, especially moderates. She would need real political capital to do so, and I hope that’s her play once elected. It’s obvious she can’t show her cards on this till elected. Do I like the country’s political balls being held by AIPAC? No. But it’s the reality we live in.
A majority of Americans disapprove of Israeli action in Gaza:
https://news.gallup.com/poll/642695/majority-disapprove-israeli-action-gaza.aspx
I’m not sure where this narrative is coming from that it is an unpopular opinion to stand up to Netanyahu.
Being against genocide in Gaza is a populist statement and position. So are things like sensible regulations and remembering what happened in Flint, Michigan. This whole, “you must either be for genocide or an antisemite” claim you got going on isn’t a good look.
And no one has done the polling in the Harris camp… the first priority is to protect our democracy. We won’t be able to do anything about helping the Palestinians if Trump is elected. But I am sure you’ll be happy you stuck to your moral high horse when millions of undocumented are put in camps themselves if the Felon wins along with when so many other atrocities start up here on US soil. Good for you!
She’s now losing in Michigan. I’m not sure what evidence you need before the election. I’m not really enthusiastic about a candidate that needs to wait to see how supporting genocide affects her electability.
0 felony convictions.
I’m pretty sure she was responsible for convicting felons.
Oh she made people felons alright
Mostly black people.
Not like there’s an unclear choice when you Americans vote soon, but pleas don’t forget that part. Most two party elections are choosing the lesser of two shit options.
Sometimes they get carried away and forget the Democrat party is still a right wing party. I’m not happy voting for Harris, but I’m happy voting against Trump (or even happy voting for Walz)
Incorrect.
She’s got a shitload of those.
She’s just on the delivering end, not the receiving.
“Someone that clean has to be dirty”
— maga, probably
I have literally been told that, about myself, by conservatives. This was while I was in The Navy, and holding a Top Secret security clearance. They didn’t approve of their daughter dating a “hippie.” (That was their descriptor not mine.)
They didn’t like having hippie semen in their daughter, who could blame them?

This is a real hard chart to follow… Are both sides the same??
Another thing that gets no attention is that she is one of the few members of congress who didn’t invest in individual stocks but just does index funds to prevent conflicts of interest/insider trading. I really wish democrats would do a better job of contrasting Trump’s corruption with theirs but then again I guess they gotta pick something and run with it.
Sounds boring.
Personally, I think the world needs major powers with a bit more crazy to 'em. You really wanna live in a world where you go to bed and wake up to the same thing? Selling nuclear secrets is the spice of life.
Edit: Really? I honestly thought I was laying the sarcasm on a little thick. Whatever. lol
America already sends 20+ billion thank you checks for killing tens of thousands of women & children. What more could you ask for?
Are you not fucking tired? Imagine shilling this hard without even an ounce of thought.
Imagine unironically supporting genocide.

Yes, you’ve found me out, Republicans hate genocide. You heard it here first folks. Vote Republican according to this guy, if you’re anti genocide.

I first read this as a bulleted list and got confused.
yet
0 apologies for convicting drug users into forced labour.
I’m sure the realistic alternative would be much better on this issue, especially considering what he did about the Central Park 5 as a private citizen
News Flash, there are other elections that happen in the US every year that are more influential and important for national issues than the presidency.
Maybe take your weird hatred of the failure-of-the-democratic-party-not-being-as-progressive-as-you-want energy and focus that on:
- getting local city councilors, mayors and county clerks etc. elected who represent your political ideology,
- getting state legislators and other officials elected who represent your political ideology,
- getting judges elected (where applicable) who understand the codified and written law and are willing to execute it as written,
- maybe even (SHOCK) getting congresspeople elected who match your political ideology.
I know this might be hard to understand, but there are a myriad of elected officials that comprise our federal system and focusing on THE PRESIDENCY alone will never make anything meaningfully change.
And for anyone who skews even the least bit toward NOT WANTING FACISM to take hold in this country of The United States of America, just fucking vote for Kamala Harris you stupid asshole.
That we know of (points to forehead)
Yea “yet”
Yeah it’s nice to point out that Trump is a piece of s*** for those reasons, but let’s not pretend that career politicians are all wonderful human beings.
Not sure why you think the things listed constitute a wonderful human being.
Because the post is romanticizing Harris. It lists all of these negative qualities that Trump has that doesn’t list any that she and Trump share. And that’s okay, but if that’s your advertisement, then be careful that you don’t alienate potential voters.
Many people expect that career politicians have a checkered past and possibly support some policies that we personally dislike, and if you try to frame someone as being angelic, which this poster did by contrast, your message may be considered basically dishonest.
TBH violently participating in the injustice system is a financial fraud and treasonous grift on americans.
