A woman has questioned if she was in the wrong for telling a stranger that she had been pronouncing her own daughter’s name incorrectly. The unnamed woman took to Reddit to detail the incident.
“Journalism”
Shitty article about a shitty (and fake) reddit post.
That being said, it isn’t like having a name like that is some kind of life changing thing.
My name is an old Irish name that’s hard to pronounce if you don’t know what it’s supposed to be. It’s, at worst, mildly annoying. At best, it can be very entertaining to hear the kind of shit people thing it’s supposed to sound like.
Grainne will most likely never, ever hear “her” name pronounced the original way, and wouldn’t give two shits if she did.
Ok I’ll give this a go: Gron-yer?
And now my best “oh where’s that from?” guesses: Gray-knee? Gra-innie? Grain (the e is silent). Granny.
What’s yours and I’ll give it a go at butchering the pronunciation 😜.
