California Gov. Gavin Newsom issued an emergency proclamation on Wednesday in response to growing concerns over bird flu cases in the state and across the country.
Ya but not for anything outside that specific reason for the emergency. For this example some of those added powers is so the government can cut some red tape to reduce the problem. The chicken industry in CA alone is worth billions of dollars, directly employees tens of thousands of people, and indirectly employees hundreds of thousands of people. Adding in the fact that it’s also a public health emergency the governor using state police to restrict access to chicken farms isn’t some authoritarian move to suppress the people. It’s to keep nut jobs (PETA, Conspiracy theorist, etc) from getting sick.
