Consider this a sort of mini UFO 50
Koala recently got knocked up, but she’s not at all enthused about giving birth and raising a kid. It’s up to her and her neighbors to find the herbs necessary to end pregnancy. Action! Diplomacy! Adventure! Elemento! This multi-genre game has it all! Or maybe just those four things.
Dahlia & The Big Coaster is the star of the Mini-Game Fun-Pak. It’s a short and sweet text adventure about a little girl at the fair who’ll do whatever it takes to ride the Big Roller Coaster. Deal with your overbearing mother; talk to psychics, clowns, and a fat man; and most importantly, ride the Big Coaster!
Ganbare Buta-Kun was an unlockable in “Koala Quest”, and makes yet another appearance in the upcoming “Six Trapped Pets”. The game doesn’t hold up on its own, but if it’s included in a pack, who can complain!?
Route 24 is a a horrible miserable grueling game about driving through rural Illinois and Indiana. I had recently driven through that region, and making this game was instrumental in soothing my trauma. It plays pretty similar to “Snail Party”, so if you’ve played that at all you know what you’re in for.
Jump through treacherous obstacles atop your trusty Horsey. Can you make it to the end of the 2,420 meter derby? If not, you can just create your own level using the built-in level builder. Do you hate the built-in level builder? Well then just open your level up in your favorite .txt editor and type away.
Mr. Dude’s Grand Adventure is the star of the Poopy-Pak! It was created back in 2006 when I was 16 years old. Being my first game, the coding was pretty crummy. I decided to re-code it back in 2010, but soon got bored and moved on to other projects. Finally in 2016 I completed it. Since the code was Frankenstein’d together over the course of a decade it’s still a little iffy. There are a couple of small glitches and some of the game mechanics don’t make much sense, but I don’t plan on ever remastering again so here it is! Play as Mr. Dude as he goes about exciting tasks like grocery shopping, finding his keys, buying new batteries, smashing watermelons, and much much more! Contains multiple endings.
Quint & Chico Hate Jermy was the prototype to Pig’s portion of Koala Quest: Parenthood Prevention. The characters and concepts came about when my brother Evan and I were thinking of game ideas. Years later I stumbled across our notes and decided to make it into a small and simple game. There isn’t much to it, but here it is! Jermy stole Quint’s cat Chico! Play as Quint as you attempt to run past the impossibly manic Jermy and take back what is rightfully yours. Beat it 10 times in a row for a surprise.
E.X.O.R.C.I.S.M. was an experiment in character movement and the randomization of text and color. Portions of the code were used in Oatboy vs. Slime Mold and Turtluv 2. The game ended up being a weird psychedelic two-player simultaneous action game. The music is also randomly generated. Demons have crept up into you and your rival, causing you both to leave a trail of mystical symbols, holy numerals, and wretched curses. Now it’s a race to see who can exorcise their demons first. Collect your opponents symbols and numerals while dodging the foul number 6.
Dancing Squidly Jones was a simple game created immediately after the original Turtluv. It’s actually not even a game, but a fortune teller. There’s really not much else to say about it, but it’s in the pack for completion’s sake.
Oatboy vs. Slime Mold is an attempt at making a fast-paced action game with a unique concept and original game play that would fit in with late-70’s/Early-80’s Arcade games. In this game you take the place of a sentient, mobile, Oat; and you have to keep away from a Slime Mold that, due to some sort of scientific experiment, is really really fast.
DIG or DIE is a two-player versus arena game. Two Game Modes (Capture the Flag or a simple Duel match).
Chimp Knife Fight is a one-player turn-based fighting game. Features include… Two-Player Versus Mode, Story Mode (With a Password Save System), An Unlockable Survival Mode (With Highscore Auto-Save). The game was originally written in 2010. It can be iffy at times, but it’s one of the better MansterSoft Classics. Dig those Monkey puns.
Snail Party is a one-player super-slow adventure game. Features include… super slow game play. This game was also originally written in 2010 and then re-coded and cleaned up for the 2017 Slow Game Jam. It’s more of a joke than anything else, but I still enjoy playing it now and again.
Turtle Love: Still Luvin’ (AKA Turtluv) is a non-game where you get to follow around a Turtle who just hit sexual maturity. Naturally, all he wants to do is sex up other turtles, so you’ll be seeing a lot of that.
King Dominicus orders his top Paladin to slay the terrible Chimera. But it’s going to take some grinding. They’ll have to build up strength by slaying everything else in their path. It’s about as minimal as an RPG can get.
These say retro games but I’ve been around since Pong and I’ve never done heard of them before
By “retro” I meant “old-style” rather than actually vintage games - itch.io is generally for small indies rather than games you’re likely to have heard of
my favourite indy is Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, but I also like Baba is You
