You can build an AR-15 for under $500. Cheap 9mm pistols can be under $300.

Edit: A 22LR rifle can be gotten for $200. Might not have the stopping power, but it’ll make someone’s priorities change when they get plinked by it. Four round pump action 12GA shotgun can be had for ~$250.

My dad has a 22LR that kicks like a mule, and you can take down a deer from a good distance. Those are nothing to sneeze at.

      Loud motherfucker too lol.

You’re good, .308 kicks decently well, not to bad, but 30-06 is probably what it was. Especially if it’s bolt action.

Yeah, it’s bolt action. The 22LR and the .30-06 are both bolt action, so I got the two mixed up. We go up to his cabin in Maine and get in some shooting from time to time. The fun one is the .50 traditional muzzleloader. We did timed shoots to see who’s the fastest to load and shoot. Fun times. Found out my wife is a damned good shot when we were flinging clay pigeons, lol.

22 rounds are really good for headshots, because they don’t have enough energy to go all the way through both sides of the skull. The bullet just bounces around inside the head.

        Kick? Loud? [X] Doubt

My bad. The more I thought of it, I think I was thinking of the .308 or the .30-06.

He has also got an ancient double barrel shot gun from the 1920s.

There are a ton of videos out there like that. It’s %100 a myth from anti-2a idiots and FUDDs who think they know firearms. 22lr has very little energy vs pretty much anything else, no way it or any other round is “bouncing around” it’s basic physics to know this.

Still, it’s interesting to see that the rounds didn’t penetrate the back of the skull. Even if it didn’t “bounce around,” I’d bet that the bullet was more likely to tumble through the tissue. Plus, hot bullet in your skull as a treat.

It’s a small round with soft lead, it’s not going to do much other than create a wound channel and stop at bone. It really is an anemic round. It’s why it’s only good for small game as a humane round. Anything else and it’s likely to wound the animal.
