Try to choose less traveled destinations. I live in a touristy city and I would be really happy if the number of tourists dropped by 80%.

Wouldn’t that kill the place? I still remember getting at the end of tourist season to one of touristy locations in my country. It was straight up dead, shops closed, no pedestrians, locals even unregistered their trucks/busses. It was kinda eerie. Like, whole city just straight up died within maybe two weeks.

Does this list count visits from within one entity? I’m guessing it would list germans going to denmark, but not people from new york going to florida?

    Canada is also wonderful.

    Canadian Rockies: Canadian Rockies

Kelowna, BC is also great, in Canadian wine country: Kelowna, BC

Northern Ontario is great for camping and nature:

Unless you’d prefer the beach and ocean, then somewhere like Prince Edward Island (PEI) is great, lots of fresh seafood: PEI

Canada shouldn’t be forgotten about because the USA is being, well, you know.

    No.

Most people aren’t interested in the actual monuments and art therefore they just want to boost their ego and have a photo to rub it on others. Most countries are not made for the massive influx and the citizen have been growing angry with movement to ban or restrict tourists on the raise.

I go to the Netherlands every year for Roadburn. It’s the best festival, if you like niche weirdo heavy music

I visited the US once over a decade ago for a job interview… Never have I felt more unwelcome in my life. Border control in the US are absolute assholes, significantly worse than anywhere else… Cannot imagine what a shit experience it must be now.

My family is gonna have the month of August free… I wonder if we can go to Germany or something.

We’ve been to France, Spain, Italy, and the UK already… Turkey could be fun too, they have some good food over there, or so I’ve heard, though I believe we might have a bit of a harder time since we don’t speak the language and they don’t really speak English over there.

Berlin is lovely in August. There’s an FKK (free body culture) lake in the middle of the biggest forest of the city that is weirdly very family friendly, while also super gay. If you’re family is up for that 😄 the German cuisine is nothing to call home about (unless you love sausages and potatoes, and even then) but Berlin has a huge vegan culture fused with all sorts of international cuisine. And probably the best falafel and kebabs maybe excluding the middle east.

Oh, and you can get the Deutschland Ticket which let’s you travel the whole country for 1 month for just 59 euros (metros, buses, trams and regional trains, just not fast inter city trains)

        Yeah, probably not haha!

Berlin has a huge vegan culture fused with all sorts of international cuisine.

        That’s very appealing.

        the Deutschland Ticket

Now that would be awesome… We certainly wouldn’t be there for the whole month though, and we’d definitely stick to one or two cities, so I’m not sure how useful that would be for the kind of travel we usually do. By myself, I’d definitely make use of that though… Maybe Germany should be my destination for solo travel. Well, there’s a long while to go for summer, I guess we’ll see!

        Thanks for your input :D

Found out Paris has a Disney Land, so we’re going there instead of the US from Canada.

Since Europe also had a great train network, we can also hit up Spain easy!
