I definitely agree that DS9 is the most consistantly good Star Trek. TNG and VOY reach the same highs, but there’s a lot more lows in between them.
I would definitely recommend finishing TNG! Seasons 5 and 6 are peak!
I think an attachment to the characters, nostalgic or otherwise, is necessary to enjoy all of TNG. That way even in bad episodes, it’s character you enjoy just doing silly things. Without that attachment A LOT of TNG can be hard to get through.
I tend to play random TNG episodes when I’m doing chores around the house. If TNG is what’s playing on the P+ Star Trek Channel I’ll usually just put that on. Did some early Spring cleaning this week and had a very random selection of TNG episodes playing. Can’t believe Paramount put Code Of Honor in the mix there, but maybe it truly is random.
Been on a Trek rewatch kick again, to combat the depressing reality we live in. Rewatched the begining on DS9 season 6. Ep1 A Time to Stand through Ep13 Far Beyond the Stars. I’d argue that this might be the strongest string of Trek episodes in any series!
Rewatched my favorite Voyager episode too, Counterpoint. I tend to hate on Voyager a bit, but there are some really fantastic episodes mixed in with all the mid ones. Counterpoint would easily make it to my top 10 Trek episodes of all time list!
As someone who loves TNG, it’s a very mixed bag of a show. It has very high highs, and very low lows. It’s a product of its era of television for better or worse.
DS9 is peak Star Trek. Its far from perfect, but so is TNG. It’s the last Trek series to truly have vision. Subsequent writers unfortunately took the wrong lessons from the show, but we can hardly blame DS9 for that.
The TNG films and Voyager are what began Star Treks downward spiral. Poor creative decisions and studio meddling doomed the TNG Films. Meanwhile, sloppy writing and a flawed premise that was poorly executed combined to make Voyager the most mediocre 90s Trek show.
ENT was just the final nail in the coffin. A complete regression of the series that nobody asked for. A desperate attempt at revival by a creative team that was out of ideas.
Seems like a win tbh. Meta stops influencing people and collecting their data, while dumbass corps waste money on ads nobody will see.
There weren’t enough hand emojis 👋👌, mama Mia’s, or references to spaghetti. No wonder he didn’t fit in.
I don’t doubt this is whats behind at least a few ethno-state ideologues.
MMW over the next 10 years we’ll see a rise in eco-facism.
So are we just going to keep posting this every month until society collapses and most of us die within 10-20 years?
Ask me any other day and my answer will be different, just highlighting a few GOATs this tread is neglecting.
1: Raging Bull
2: Citizen Kane
3: Dr. Strangelove
I still enjoyed the first game but wasn’t one of the lead devs on KCD a capital G Gamer? I remember some… interesting tweets from him. Was he booted or did he change his ways?
Edit: Derp, should have just read the article before commenting. Fascism eats its own yet again.
Is he? The two have many shared interest sure, and maybe he has some dirt on Musk. I feel like if Putin was the “grand puppet master” he’s often made out to be then the war in Ukraine would be going much better for him. The article above seems to indicate that Putins influence has waned considerably since 2016.
Pure speculation, but could Trump no longer be as beholden to Putin as he so clearly was in his first term? Musk seems to be holding his reins now, and maybe he realizes any Kompromat the Russians may have had just doesn’t matter any more in the face of his cult of personality.
That said, it seems to be in both parties best interest for Putin to get out of the war while Trump is in office. A president favorable to Russia gets a big win on the world stage, and Russia gets to quietly back out of a conflict that has been a complete disaster for them.
Ah yes, my vegetable plot lots in Manor Lords!
Unrelated to the opsec, why is a SpongeBob Movie premiering on Netflix? Isn’t Nickelodeon Paramount?
As someone very burnt out on Marvel, I’m cautiously looking forward to this. Daredevil was the best thing to come out of the MCU.
That’s why I dislike these kinds of memes that say, “Oh, I shouldn’t be working all day; I should be living a life of leisure and free to create”.They feel like the conservative strawman of the “lazy leftist who just envies the rich”.
Living as the meme describes inherently requires the exploitation of labor. Unless a society becomes technologically advanced enough to achieve fully automated post-scarcity, meeting a person’s needs still requires a certain amount of human labor. The issue under capitalism is that some people do live as the meme describes, and they do so by exploiting the labor of others through capital. As a result, the rest of us struggle even more.

So they’re all at least 5 months old? Must be bringing their girlfriends.
