I know it’s not going to happen, but a Witcher 4 where you’re playing as Letho out in the eastern lands is my absolute dream. He’s a great character with strong main character energy, and he’s also CDPR original content so doing it that way lets them play looser with story and characters without having to trample over the lore.
I remember the good old days of being super excited every time a new PCGamer magazine arrived in the mailbox and you’d get a fresh CD with it stuffed full of the hottest demos to try. Good times.
I mean, I’m already not on any social media apart from Lemmy. I cultivate my subscriptions here carefully and typically avoid the /all feed. I try to limit my exposure to current events, but you can only bury your head in the sand so much. And even then, it’s not like the issues of the world go away just because I’m not looking at them. And consequently the anxiety doesn’t go away either. It’s possible to push out with temporary distractions, but that’s not really possible to maintain 24/7.
It’s pick your poison I suppose. I would personally have an easier time dealing with a lower quality of life than I do with constant oppressive existential dread and ceaseless hopelessness and anxiety, but Imagine it’s different for everyone.
I don’t think I share a single ounce of your optimism about anything really but I wish I did. I find living in this age fucking exhausting. I’m glad I’m unlikely to have kids at this point because I wouldn’t want to put more human beings into the misery that is existence right now.
But even then I’m glad there are some people out there capable of maintaining a positive outlook in the face of well… everything.
Impeccable taste, DS1 Great Scythe has such a fantastic moveset. Is it your first time playing?
You said it perfectly. While politically unfortunate given how it will be used, it’s incredible as a photo for all the reasons you mentioned. Great presence of mind to be able to capture a shot this good in the midst of the chaos unfolding.
I was moreso upset at the outdated pearl clutching of the olympic committee and the complete lack of engagement with actual esports, instead trying to… find mobile games tangentially related to existing olympic sports…?
I didn’t know it existed so I had to read up on it real quick. Honestly makes my blood boil a little bit, especially stuff like blanket excluding FPS games because they’re “too violent”. Are we still in the nineties?
Honestly, the Larian writing style and humour would have probably been a better fit for Fallout.
I haven’t read the design docs for Van Buren myself, were there enough in there to actually build a game out of or is this project more fanfiction and educated guesswork?
I also dislike it, but it’s easy to see why. Once something is both this widespread and user friendly it will become increasingly more popular in a positive feedback loop. Easier onboarding is so valuable compared to having to teach people your in-house engine.
I’m afraid we’ll only see more Unreal games in the future.

I hope Lemmy will grow enough to warrant a split like that eventually, but for the moment I don’t think the user base exists.
The main reason F1technical exists on Reddit is that the main F1 sub is so huge that any specifically technical posts would simply disappear, drowned out by all the faff. I don’t think the Lemmy F1 sub is at that point yet, so you’ll probably get more traction for your posts if you just put them here.

Probably won’t do a complete playthrough using this, but would be fun to screw around a bit as Letho and live out my fantasy of him being the protagonist of the next Witcher game.
Ghost of Tsushima is one of the most overrated games of all time. It’s a perfectly fine experience carried by solid combat and high polish, but far from being one of the best games of all time. The writing and acting is monotonously dour and the quest design is uninspiring, which wears you out because the game is also way too long for what little variety it offers. The open world is also your bland, boring, garden variety Ubisoft style.
Romances in BG3 are poorly written and realized and detract from the quality of the game. BG3 in general is merely “fine for a video game” in terms of writing. People also let the game get away with murder in terms of how much it falls apart in the third act.
Cyberpunk 2077 - despite all its flaws - is CDPR’s best game.
The first 4 I can understand. Single syllable words, hard to trace or make guesses about.
Recorder has always puzzled me. It’s such a specific word, and never made any sense to me. I hope the article author succeeds in finding an answer.
It definitely looks like it will be in terms of individual races, and potentially the Constructor’s, given Checo is doing Checo things.
However, we all know everyone only really cares about the driver’s championship. A season can have amazing races, but it’s hard to call it truly great when the winner is known before the halfway mark. And thanks to Red Bull’s headstart and points maximising that is the case here.
I mean, sure, he might have been screwed by the strategy but it was an easy call for the team to gamble at that point because he was still stuck at what, 16th? It’s not like he was making up positions and soaring up the field. His pace was just weak all weekend (again). Just look at his attempt to deny Sainz fastest lap and reclaim it for Red Bull at the end. He was just slow.
I hope you’re enjoying it, that first blind playthrough is quite magical. First half of DS1 is just a masterclass in level design. No other game has made me so excited to find a shortcut.
