No worries! I know it’s hard to convey those levels of nuance in these conversations, especially with how quick everyone is to jump to one side or the other.
No, I haven’t been, and that’s why I said personally. The reason why I never wanted a gun in my house is because of looking at the statistics of who is by far the most likely to get shot by that gun. [Either me or my spouse.]
I am all for responsible gun ownership and made the personal choice not to get one because the threat of my government has not been a credible threat. That is changing, which is why I am trying to decide to make the personal choice to get one. The increased risk to both myself and my spouse is nearing the tipping point where NOT having one is a greater risk from my government.
Around 2% of your DNA comes from Neanderthals. If we were scared off by them, it wouldn’t have been for too long before we decided the sex was worth it.
I have been staunchly anti-gun personally, but it feels like it’s time to arm myself. The threats are becoming credible.
I have yet to meet someone…
Now you have. And as someone who gets panic attacks from them, kindly go fuck yourself.
Wait until ButtHurt hears that that’s literally what we’re talking about and their ‘gotcha’ is meaningless bullshit.
Right now, two things are true:
The president ordering the US military to kill US citizens on US soil is legal and cannot be challenged.
One of the presidential candidates is promising to be a dictator on day 1.
This isn’t a drill. We’re 4 months away from knowing if 6 months away is our democracy’s end.
Or don’t twist an ankle having to trek up and down hills without sidewalks. And if you have bad knees, that goes double.
This is on purpose, too. The farthest-right states also just so happen to have the lowest educations, incomes, healthcare, etc. They make it miserable for people who live there to organize AND so people from cities don’t want to move there.
I remember reading that when national parks tried to make a ‘bear-proof’ trashcan, they found that there was a larger overlap between the smartest bear and the stupidest human to make a viable product.
I feel like it’s a similar situation here. The smartest kid and the stupidest adult are far more similar than we’d like to admit.
That means it’s fine to give wine to kids because it totally won’t give them a buzz! It won’t affect their feelings towards the church or make them easier to manipulate at all.
Nope. Nuh-uh.
If your god’s greatest act is “willingly becoming a murder victim”, you might be in a death cult.
They would be richer, but by “allowing” working class people to have a thriving life means the power gap between us and them wouldn’t be as big. People could organize and overthrow them, so they have to keep us fighting amongst ourselves for scraps.
The cruelty is the point.
With the name “RageAgainstTheRich”, one would think you’d be more into class solidarity. 🙄
Do you mean by asking for a universal minimum wage instead of making each company’s workers fight for a living wage at each company individually?
Because yes. Obviously.
Love how they just say “reddit.com” when it’s from r/shittymoviedetails. Perfect place to pull answers from without fact-checking.
In the meantime though, protesting the current system by not tipping directly harms the person who is doing work you could have easily done at home yourself.
I agree that we should have livable wages as the minimum wage, but your anger is misplaced. I’m mad at the government, and have solidarity with my fellow working-class citizens. If I can’t afford to tip somewhere, I can’t afford to be a patron there, and THAT directly impacts the company instead of the workers.
Nah, the trick is to have a box lid or other cat trap next to the keyboard. It’s easier to trick them to thinking they won a different game.
