Am I a joke to you?
Obviously their mod is different but I gotta show love.

People aren’t going to like this opinion but I’ll start by saying I think Vance is a crap Senator and a simp for billionaire oligarch Peter Thiel, that being said, this cartoon reminds me of one of Ben Garrison’s crappy cartoons.
Of course he did, one thing that actual bullies don’t like is when someone stands up to them. First they cry foul and then complain until they realize no one is listening, hopefully after that, they lose their power.
The Republican media arm (Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, etc.) and by proxy, the Republican Party, have been bullies my entire life. Forgive me that I don’t care that the Democrats are finally standing up to them.
What about blaming the Republicans in congress, like yourself, who refused to vote on the Democrats boarder control policy this year because it would’ve “given the Democrats a win”? What about actually trying to fix problems rather than perpetuate them just to try and get elected? Seems like weird behavior to me.
I guess it was a junk bond.
Trump, undoubtedly aware of the plan’s growing unpopularity, has claimed, “I know nothing about Project 2025” and that “some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal.”
How does he know things in it are abysmal if he has no knowledge of it?
As someone who grew up in WV, he ran as a democrat but he’ll always be just another Coal Baron, just like the current governor Jim Justice.
Yes it would’ve been clearer but that’s not what he said, he almost lost her to the poison that IS coming over the border (emphasis is mine). That is a lie.
I’m in the south of France, and people from France, England, Dubai, Serbia, Canada and Colombia have come up to tell me they can’t believe what is happening in America… They want Trump.
Fuck this guy with every square foot of housing he is hoarding.
Conversely, Miller notes that some technically ultraprocessed foods, like liquid egg whites, raisins and unsweetened raisins are actually quite “good for you,” so it’s challenging to generalize too much.
So they’re bad, but not all of them are bad and don’t generalize too much.
What makes you happy besides being inside? What nerdy things specifically? I like history, I would dig into all types of history stuff and eventually started going to a small local history group, that group introduced me to a degree program for historic building preservation, and that’s now how I makes a living, fixing and preserving historic buildings.
I’m not saying you need to change who you are or find a group of strangers. I’m just saying, focus on what makes you happy, the things that get you excited and try to use those as possible outlets. You’d be surprised how many people just like you are out there, I was one of those people. The thing is, you don’t hear about them because most of them are happy in their self made isolation, that’s ok too.
The difference is that you said you haven’t been happy in a decade. So are you really happy in your room or are you just comfortable there? If you’re not happy but comfortable, you might need to get uncomfortable to find that happiness because it sounds like your current solace in your room isn’t bringing any of it. It’s up to you though, I don’t want you to change, just find what makes you happy and put your energy towards that. If that seems like an impossible task then it’s very possible you’re depressed and you may need to seek some help that’s above the pay grade of most of us here on Lemmy.
I am not a psychologist, these are just my experiences and opinions. I really hope they can help though or I wouldn’t have spent the time typing it out.
Private equity firms have been buying veterinary offices at an increased rate since 2020 and jacking up rates, especially in high COL areas so I’m not surprised. My dog needed a tooth extracted at the end of last year and the cost was just under $1000. I understand there are highly trained individuals working there that need to be paid appropriately but I wonder what the cost for me to have one tooth extracted would be?
I just read your last paragraph and the recent comment and I agree there’s room for discussion in a lot of areas but people retreat to their tried and true positions because it’s comfortable and safe to think like everyone else around them. I wish you luck on your journey, self reflection and growth from a strong religious upbringing/society isn’t easy. I was raised Catholic but thankfully my parents and Catholic School weren’t the hardcore evangelical types so I was able to make my own mental/religious path pretty early in life.
I’ll be honest, I had to read your comments a couple of times to get the crux of what you were getting at. It’s tough trying to translate our depthless thoughts to a quick comment on a website so a lot of times I don’t comment. Or, if I do, I preface it by stating that I agree with the problem/issue, then I state my case/thought and then reiterate that agree again at the end because it doesn’t matter if it’s Lemmy, Reddit, or some other part of the internet, people read quick and then type something to get a response or make themselves feel better, unfortunately most people aren’t looking for a discussion. And, a lot of time the best discussions come from situations like this where a couple of back and forth comments gets to the real point.
Also good point on dictionary definitions and the use of literally.
Shit, someone gets the plague here every year, it’s even more common in New Mexico.
When I first moved to Colorado, I was definitely surprised the first time I saw something about bubonic plague in the headlines but I’ve lived here long enough that it’s just something that happens every year or so, it’s pretty much always isolated and most of the time the person recovers.
More people die hiking in this state than from plague and I don’t think that’s going to stop people from hiking anytime soon. Same with skiing and I’ll be on the slopes come winter.
To your point, I think it’s acceptable to call selling your body in a variety of ways prostitution. South Park has an episode from an early season about Kenny, Johnny Knoxville, and Tom Green doing gross stuff for money, in the episode Jesus calls the boys out for helping to make Kenny a prostitute. All that doesn’t change the dictionary definition of prostitution which is what the capuchin was participating in. From the Wikipedia article called “Prostitution”: Prostitution is the business or practice of engaging in sexual activity in exchange for payment. The definition of “sexual activity” varies, and is often defined as an activity requiring physical contact (e.g., sexual intercourse, non-penetrative sex, manual sex, oral sex, etc.) with the customer.
I’m trying to think of something that was somewhat popular to make this more interesting. I’ll say Paperboy, I had a friend who really liked it but I never cared for it. Even when it showed up on emulators or retro game packs, it’s was always annoying and boring to me.
The capuchin engaged in sexual activity for payment, call it what you want but that pretty much the dictionary definition of prostitution. It’s not a moral or god question it’s semantics.
A friend of mine dabbles in video game collecting so I knew the price was high there for a bit. My OG Wavebird is in a plastic tub in my parent’s basement with the rest of my old video game gear.
