I think it would be funny to normalize wearing bloc in order to retain privacy. It’s why some people might wear accessories they normally don’t wear, such as beanies and sunglasses at protests, even if they aren’t in full bloc, covering hair and eyes (in addition to a surgical mask) can make it really hard to doxx someone.
Tenant unions and rent strikes are wild. There was a funny reddit screenshot that was going around during the pandemic that I cannot find, but I remember it being the icon for a podcast, which I found and linked. It’s a good source on what rent strikes could do and critiques of its use.
Half of me wants to be snarky and call you privileged for being able to ignore these types of things, or some string of expletives for choosing to ignore an ongoing genocide. But then I thought about it and damn, i really wish I could ignore this mess, and I can’t blame you for just giving in. Your mental health must have improved drastically after this. I would be a hypocrite to call you out while wanting it to end so badly.
As someone who is politically engaged to the point of being an activist, I don’t mind seeing political news, and I read a fuckton of it. But jesus christ do I want this election year to just end, this season has been insufferable and exhausting. I’ve been struggling to find a way to participate beyond the regular praxis I do, since I can at least find solace in my friends as we address queer issues and homelessness in my area. But going beyond that brings me into the purgatory of American politics in this hell year.

I’ve written code that has generated logs like that. In my case, I had all of my 12 threads writing to a logger, and over the course of 2 hours it got to about 250gb, which was the remainder space on my drive
That’s a fun mistake to make. I had a similar thing happen with Kubuntu uninstalling my GPU drivers. I could never figure out what caused it.
The world is full of creatives who make things without any expectation of income, but people create anyways. Look at open source software, or the many youtubers who don’t get enough views to get paid yet they post anyways. There’s quite a few journalists who operate solely on optional donations.

Like, hating america is fine, this is a horrid country, there’s not much to love for many minority communities. Hating america because of political views is also fine, our politics suck.
Some people create two camps: pro america groups, and anti-america groups. If they want to oppose america, the only logical choice is to support the opposing camp.
At least, that’s my theory.
I don’t see how you can be pro-taliban without being either in line with their views, or just seeing the world as having two sides and sticking to one arbitrary side.

I make slow cooked chicken burritos and freeze them. Takes about 1 hour of prep, and about 6 hours to cook so it isn’t easy, but I only gotta do this occasionally. If I do this in conjunction with meal prep it takes a lot longer to prep, but then I can have a work week of food, and have like 8 burritos for when I’m too lazy to cook.

I’d rather get healthcare at all. I’ve been too poor to afford any medical care at points in my life, I’d settle for even some low quality care as opposed to none at all and hoping that this new weird pain either is insignificant and goes away without issue, or it gently takes me out in the night.
I’m excited to see where pirate medicine goes. I’ve met a trans woman who told me that her DIY HRT was life changing in the best possible way, and I can only dream of what would happen if people started making their own Insulin or T or whatever

When I read the first bit of the headline I was like “Sure, I can see Churchill being a big villain, after all be is a piece of shit. Worse than hitler? That’ll need quite a bit of justification since I don’t think there is any way to justify that position. Then I read the second half and realized they are using “historian” to give that neo-nazi a bit of credibility while they do a bit of holocaust denial.
I’ve run into the same problem with an API server I wrote in rust. I noticed this bug 5 minutes before a demo and panicked, but fixed it with a 1 second sleep. Eventually, I implemented a more permanent fix by changing the simplistic io calls to ones better designed for streams
In most cases there isn’t much you can do to fool the government without a lot of prep time such as scouting routes to find cameras, destroying them, or being really good at changing into bloc in the middle of a crowd and not getting caught.
But the important thing is threat modeling. The past dozen or so protests I’ve been at haven’t had the government as a big threat, it has had fascists as the primary threat. While a fascist cop would be a problem, it is much less likely than fascists combing through protest footage to try and doxx people, or a fascist at said action trying to get good photographs. That’s why I masked up.
The last real dicey action that I went to I still masked up, even knowing that the government could still try to track me if needed because I knew it would be time consuming to do so, and that they would only go through the process of doing that if I make it worth their while. Bloc is still effective, but quite hard under this heavily surveillanced police state.
