I believe the phrase is “Big things come in small packages”.

I was about to bring this up!! Yes! It was a two page spread. My jaw dropped. Awesome comic.
I’ll never understand why low res images like this always have half the text cropped off. I get why it’s done when they’re conveniently censoring something, but…ugh. :(
ADHD. A lot of people might say depression, and ADHD gets misdiagnosed this way too, especially because people are much more familiar with the way depression manifests rather than how ADHD actually manifests beyond stereotypical hyperactivity and difficulty focusing.
What you’re describing is executive dysfunction and energy regulation problems. The reason you can’t stop scrolling is because your brain doesn’t produce dopamine enough, and it’s only used to the short bursts it can produce. This creates a feedback loop where you’re stuck stimulating yourself with quick, easy dopamine hits, and that’s why anything that seems like a prolonged task feels like an impossible endeavor. It’s also why you’ll get tunnel vision if you ever do start playing that game.
Yup. That phenomenon is called “analogical change”. The opposite happens too though! For example, “person” and “parson”.
Actuallyyy…
Goose comes from Old English, where they pluralized [go:s] (think “goes” with a soft S) by adding [iz] (like “ease”).
When saying [go:siz], it was kinda hard for the mouth to switch the vowels from the [o] to the [i] quickly, so to save themselves the trouble, they’d change the first vowel to make it a little more similar to the second, so [go:siz] became [ge:siz].
Then, that was too long, so they dropped the [z]. [ge:si] (think “guessy” but the “e” lasts a bit longer than usual).
Then, that was too long, so they dropped the [i]. [ge:s] (“guess” with that same drawn out “e”).
📯It’s the Great Vowel Shift!📯 Now, [go:s] and [ge:s] become [gu:s] and [gi:s]. Almost there!
The vowels become a tad short over time, and now, you have [gus] and [gis] which are written “goose” and “geese”.
But “MOOSE”? That’s Algonquin. It has nothing to do with all that noise. “But they sound the same and are written the same?!” So? Haven’t you heard? English orthography is a dumpster fire. Nobody knows what they’re doing. Not even the words.
My brain can’t make sense of the thumbnail.
Not all famous people’s friends are famous. 🤷🏼 They both used to be part of the cosplay community that would attend a lot of anime conventions, but somebody made a joke about doxxing myself, so I don’t feel comfortable saying much else.
Wtf that’s my partner’s friend! I’ve seen people I know on Reddit a few times before, but I didn’t expect it on a less populated place like Lemmy. It’s a small world.
Not since the days of yore when there were DBZ websites with affiliate links. Lol
I loved the desirepaths subreddit. It’s a shame it’s, ya know, a subreddit.
I won’t sit idly by while there is a PRETENDER TO THE THRONE.
I hate to be “that zoologist” (because I’m not a zoologist), but isn’t that a shrew?
Better art than some printed comic books I’ve seen.
Somebody’s gotta do it. 🐥
I swear to God, all these Linux/Unix posts look like such a word salad from an outside perspective.
“Plasma mobile pine phone rice”??? Wingding with a blender goose nunchuk paddleboat.
After 33 years and lack of citizenship over a technicality, I think it’s safe to say “GIVE THE MAN A BREAK!” Jeezy Creezy.
This meme is so old that I was 27 when I first read it.
