cool! TIL!
isn’t that not good, because it is petroleum based and will cause the rubber seal to disintegrate faster?
sailing can be surprisingly affordable if you are a little bit open (so long you don’t expect to do the millionaire’s kind of sailing).
Just head out to the local marina/yacht club and ask around. there’s almost always people out who have a yacht and who are willing to take a newbie on because they could use a set of hands. just be reliable, a good listener, and perhaps not toooooo clumsy.
You will learn sailing obviously. but a lot of secondary skills, too. such as tying knots (that someone already mentioned separately), reading weather, how to use a VHF, engine maintenance, navigation and more.
if you are curious, you can lurk around here !Sailing@lemmy.world or at the equivalent /r/ if you want legacy content to peruse.

Not my life because it was a comment on Reddit (at least I think it wasn’t quoted from anything else). But I loved it and I remember it years later still.
As my father told me, There are only three useless things in this world. Nuns’ nipples, bishops’ balls and an employer’s praise without a raise.

I chose to run TrueNAS Scale. But I have a travel kit on a couple of RPis that consists of OpenWRT + OMV with some Docker containers.
I seem to have the opposite experience of other commenters. I find TrueNAS Scale very intuitive to use. The only issue I have with it, are some Truechart apps (it seems to usually be ones that require a ingress)
OMV is okay. I find it really hard to navigate the UI. It feels like something from the 00s.
I tried proxmox but gave up on it. I just could not figure out Permissions for portainer. Nothing worked. But I guess that’s on me because everyone loves proxmox
