  • Previous waves of Chinese immigrants to Hong Kong came mostly from the southern part of the country. They often spoke Cantonese and integrated quickly. But the latest influx comes from all over the mainland, says Eric Fong of the University of Hong Kong. “Integration, if it occurs, may take longer than in the past.” Hong Kongers, protective of their distinct identity, are not always the most welcoming bunch. When a group of mainland children was spotted squatting on a train platform last year (as is customary in parts of China), locals poked fun at them on social media.

Some aspects of culture are really not worth defending. Another big L for the economist.

  • Every one of these sources is a dead end. They all point to other news articles that make similar baseless claims or webinars on YouTube (?!). Or worse, they cite themselves as evidence.

    No evidence?

    […]

I’m not claiming these sources (all of which, but especially the third one, rely on other, specified sources) are necessarily trustworthy, etc. But evidence is absolutely being claimed.

Yeah. Claiming there’s evidence and actually providing evidence for such claims are completely different. That’s the whole point.

  • What about long press to expand/collapse the chain and tap to show/hide the bar? Personally, most of my miss-clicks are attempts to click a link in the body. This results in everything collapsing and then needing to click to expand before trying again. I think it would be less frustrating if a miss-click of this type resulted in just the bar collapsing or expanding which doesn’t hide the link that was missed.
