Up. Went in not expecting much, just watching it with my kid. The whole opening montage though was really well done and told a whole story without any dialogue (or nearly without any, I can’t remember).

In the new Puss In Boots during the montage where it shows all the ways he died. The animation was so clean and aesthetically pleasing. I could tell a lot of care went into the animation.

In the Barbie movie when she says “Do you guys ever think about dying?”

Suddenly the movie you thought was about a plastic doll becomes about contemplating death, the systematic oppression of women, and what kind of world we will be leaving our daughters. Fucking epic.

Marcel, the Shell with Shoes on: the wacky shit he says in the opening interview, and the completely straight way it’s handled, made me realize this was just something completely different from the simple kids movie I was expecting.

Wonka. I was low-key hostile to the very idea of an origin story, but within five minutes I realized that that it was going to be a fun ride.

the cubone catching scene in detective pikachu.

my expectations were in the floor, but i was pretty shocked at how much heart and soul went into that movie. it is formulaic as hell, but worth it.
