And yes I say trilogy because the forth one while decent, you can tell it was made by different people and the charm of the characters was replaced for some more “modern” comedy choices, it came almost a decade after the third one after all.

I’m serious, is probably my favourite trilogy of all time, the comedy and raunch tone never gets old, the acting is surprisingly good. And the soundtrack is perfect.

Plus, yeah, nudity.

Shame people are too easily offended to get a character like stiffler in movies nowadays.

This is such a BS take. The Boys exists and is super popular. You’d never be able to show anything like the boys back in American Pie times, there are far worse characters than Stiffler in current media. The Boys is setting off an “offensive content” pissing contest so things are only going get more filthy. Tell you republican grandpa, or whomever told you otherwise, that his movies are safe from the Woke Monster under his bad.

Perfect example. It feels like OP misses a style of movie that doesn’t get made much anymore but the reason it doesn’t get made isn’t from any sense of political correctness. It’s a combination of how audiences spend money and how much money Hollywood expects to make.

But they are portrayed differently and there are entire threads about how “modern audiences” don’t like the American Pie way.

The three things you mentioned there in The Boys were not for titillation, they were played for humor or shock as was the (overwhelmingly) male nudity. And the actions are mostly done by the bad guys. A butt shot of a Starlight body double in the most recent season isn’t comparable and is a stinger to someone being raped. Sex and sexuality is portrayed as kinda bad throughout.

American Pie was for titillation and the actions were carried out by the protagonists. Sex and sexuality is portrayed as a normal part of life.

The OP is correct. It was never about not being able to reference creepy sex practices by bad people.

None of them are even comparable to American pie. They’re played as gore or violence more than anything. Those never went away, but the playful, almost porn like positive and characters like stiffler … That shit doesn’t fly sm nowadays anywhere. Sex is only romantic or violent.

Here is a big list of 24 sex comedies, many of them made in the last 5 years. Many of them were very popular and well made.

You might have missed some of them because the intended audience was women, but based on your post I’m sure those “don’t count.”

That list lost me on the first entry, Poor Things. Amazing movie, don’t get me wrong. But a “sex comedy”? I’m sorry but no.

Mid-budget comedies don’t get made anymore. It has nothing to do with not wanting to make them, and everything to do with how profitable movies are expected to be nowadays. You either make low budget movies, expecting to blow the budget out of the water, or you make behemoth blockbusters, trying to break an all-time box office record. Mid-budget is relegated to streaming only content, so IP cows.

I rewatched the first one last month and it has hold up surprisingly well, specially when compared with other comedies of the same era

Couldn’t disagree any harder. You’re allowed to like whatever you like, but don’t pretend that raunchy humor is somehow extinct.

Last week in Deadpool. Got pegging, dirty jokes and everything. I’m not going to see Borderlands but they were doing the same thing. Don’t fall in this culture war trap that somehow raunchy humor is a dead genre. It’s not based in reality, even the cliche example of “Blazing saddles couldn’t be made today” falls apart when the studio tried to cancel it over worries with the racial humor.

Deadpool is a childish movie. Did you watched this movie? And Deadpool is just bad jokes that anyone can do, this is different. They’re not comparable

Movies like American pie are not made anymore

just bad jokes that anyone can do

…and American Pie wasn’t? High schoolers trying to get laid is something other than childish? Okkkkkay.

Look, you do you. But over the top raunchy comedies are still being made, perhaps not to your taste, but to deny that they exist is silly. Personally, I think you are getting lost in nostalgia. It’s easy to say “the kids today ruined it, don’t make ‘em like the good ole’ days”, literally every generation does it.

Why are you this dense? Mature sex jokes plus repetitive nudity and simulated sex (downright softcore in the dvd movies) is way more “not for children” than a super hero swearing and CGI gore… It’s not nostalgia FFS.
