I did it the other way. My grandmother was dying in the hospital and I invited a girl I’d gone on maybe two dates with to the vigil. She was like “uh … no?” and I never heard from her ever again. And rightfully so.

I worked in the damn things here and there over the years, and I despise being at one as a visitor, even when it isn’t to visit a patient. I’ll do it when necessary, but I know how that little kernel of dread feels, so I can’t blame anyone that can’t/won’t visit in a hospital.

But are they shitty? It depends how deep is their relationship ig. If she’s the one you are going to marry then they’re shitty.
