It’s open source so it can be implemented in other platforms like on Linux/BSD desktop environments, jailbreaks on iOS, etc.

Apple implemented this many years ago in several apps, including photos, screensavers, and iTunes/Music, and of course Mac OS itself. I’m willing to bet there’s an api for it already in existence.
Windows 11 has also had its mica affect for a while now, and windows 10 had something similar.
I think there might be gnome themes and extensions like material you, not sure how good they work.
