While I am a huge fan of Black Mirror, I think they need to stop making new seasons. Maybe an occasional one-off special in say 10 years. If that.

Why stop making new seasons? We get 6 episodes every year or two, each story being an hour long standalone. (This season will include the first direct follow up episode, but that’s new to only this season.)

Should we just stop making films for 10 years?

No, of course we shouldn’t stop making movies.

I just think they are not really adding much to their concept. And almost debasing some of their earlier achievements.

I’m hoping it can pick up stream again. At this point it’s a vehicle for anyone to tell a story and I think the quality dips and peaks based more on the writers and directions, rather than any societal parallels. If this show was some sort of consistent narrative with the same characters, I could see it (i.e. Simpsons, South Park), but Black Mirror is pretty fucking close to a blank slate. There’s no reason we couldn’t have the best seasons in the future, but it really depends on who has the reigns imho.

            That’s a fair point.

It’s a personal preference of sorts. I would rather they started a new project to highlight up and coming directors or focus on a special concept while putting the “Black Mirror” series on hold for 5-10 years.

That would be enough time for some novel n concepts around society and technology to become relevant.
